What Happened
A hacker claimed to have breached the taxedesejour.bordeaux.metropole.fr portal, which manages short-term rental tax declarations for Bordeaux Métropole, exposing approximately 11,000 accommodation records in a partial database dump of around 3.1 MB in JSON format. The exposed data included personal information about property owners and managers of tourist accommodations, including registration numbers, names, email addresses, phone numbers, property addresses, postal codes, and registration dates. While no official confirmation of the breach’s authenticity has been published by Bordeaux Métropole authorities as of the disclosure date, the exposed information could facilitate targeted phishing campaigns, fraud related to tourism bookings, identity theft, and commercial spam targeting short-term rental operators in the region.
