What Happened

In September 2025, RemoteCOM, a US surveillance software provider serving 49 states, suffered a data breach that exposed approximately 14,000 personal records of individuals under court supervision and 6,896 law enforcement contact entries. The hacker, known as “wikkid,” accessed two key files containing names, home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, IP addresses, and specific charges for monitored individuals, along with names, job titles, phone numbers, work addresses, and email addresses for criminal justice employees. The breach compromised data from SCOUT, RemoteCOM’s proprietary spyware system used to monitor individuals on parole, probation, and pretrial supervision—tracking people involved in offenses ranging from sex crimes and narcotics to alleged terrorism and hacking. The exposure posed significant dangers to both monitored individuals, who became identifiable targets, and law enforcement officers, whose workplace information and family safety were jeopardized. RemoteCOM confirmed the unauthorized access to one of its servers and stated it was working with law enforcement and the FBI to secure the issue.
