Orange data breach

Orange

What Happened

In July 2020, Orange, the French telecommunications company, suffered a ransomware attack by the Nefilim group targeting its Business Solutions division, compromising data hosted on the “Le Forfaitinformatique” IT platform between July 4 and 5. Hackers exfiltrated a 339MB archive containing emails, airplane schematics, and files from around 20 enterprise customers (PRO/SME), which they leaked online after Orange declined to pay ransom. No consumer data or other services were affected; Orange promptly isolated the systems, notified impacted customers and authorities, and confirmed no broader breach occurred.
