What Happened
In April 2026, the French Agence Nationale des Fréquences (ANFR), responsible for managing radio frequencies including the Radiomaritime teleservice for ship radio licenses, suffered a cyberattack from April 4 to 10, detected on April 13 when IT teams identified unauthorized access and system malfunctions. Hackers extracted personal data of approximately 330,000 users, including names, postal addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and dates of birth, though licenses and attached documents were not compromised. The ANFR immediately shut down the service, notified affected users via email, and collaborated with ANSSI, which confirmed the stolen data was placed for sale on the dark web with samples, heightening risks of phishing and identity fraud amid a wave of French public sector breaches.
