What Happened
In October 2025, specifically on October 6, the TISZA Világ app—associated with Hungary’s opposition Tisza Party (tiszavilag.hu)—suffered a data breach compromising approximately 198,520 to 200,000 user accounts, with the stolen data published online around late October and extensively redistributed in November. Exposed information included email addresses, names, phone numbers, physical addresses, usernames, and additional user logs, posing risks of phishing, identity theft, and harassment. The incident sparked political controversy: Tisza leader Péter Magyar blamed Russian or international hackers and government involvement, while pro-government sources and Hungary’s Sovereignty Protection Office alleged ties to Ukrainian IT firms (e.g., FS Group, PettersonApp) with potential US intelligence links, prompting investigations by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the National Authority for Data Protection, and cybersecurity agencies; some outlets exploited the leak for doxxing supporters. No perpetrators have been confirmed, and Tisza Világ has not detailed post-breach fixes.
