What Happened
In October 2025, specifically on October 24, the social video sharing and bookmarking platform MyVidster suffered a major data breach when data from 3,864,364 user accounts was posted to a public hacking forum, distinct from a prior 2015 incident affecting about 20,000 accounts. The exposed information included usernames, email addresses, and in a small number of cases, profile photos, with some sources also noting hashed passwords, heightening risks of phishing, identity theft, account takeovers, and credential stuffing. The breach was verified and added to databases like Have I Been Pwned and Mozilla Monitor by October 27, 2025, prompting recommendations for users to change passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and monitor accounts.
