Catho

What Happened

In March 2020, Catho, a prominent Brazilian recruitment platform, suffered a major data breach when its database was unauthorizedly accessed, exposing sensitive information from approximately 10.7 million user records, including 1.2 million unique email addresses. The compromised data encompassed full names, usernames, email addresses, and plaintext passwords, heightening risks of account takeovers and identity theft for affected job seekers and professionals. The breached dataset later surfaced on a dark web marketplace alongside other stolen data, with no specific attackers publicly identified.
