Armorgames data breach

Armorgames

What Happened

In January 2019, Armor Games, a popular online gaming portal, suffered a data breach around January 1st when attackers accessed its user database as part of a larger incident affecting 16 companies and exposing over 617 million accounts total, with Armor Games comprising about 11 million records (specifically 11,013,615 accounts and 10.6 million unique emails). The compromised data included usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, salted SHA-1 hashed passwords (with salt enabling potential reversal), full birthdates (notably for admin accounts), geographic information, bios, genders, and social connections, though no credit card details, full names, or phone numbers were involved. The breach was discovered on January 29th after notification by Tuik Security Group, prompting Armor Games to investigate, force password resets, enhance security, notify authorities, and advise users to update passwords across sites.
